Awards
The Bateman Prize and the Bateman Fellowship are named for Emeritus Professor Paul T. Bateman, who joined the University of Illinois Department of Mathematics in 1950 and retired in 1989. Bateman served as department head for the years 1965-1980.
The Bateman Prize in Number Theory
Each year the number theory faculty chooses a graduate student in number theory for the Bateman Prize in Number Theory. This honor is given to the student whom the faculty feels has accomplished the most outstanding research during the previous year. The award winners, their advisors, and present positions are:

The Bateman Fellowship in Number Theory
Each year the number theory faculty chooses a current student in number theory for the Bateman Fellowship in Number Theory. This is a one-semester fellowship given to an outstanding current graduate student in number theory. The recipients of this fellowship, their advisors, and present positions are:
