Dissertation Completion Fellowships
Fellowships are available for graduate students in their final year before graduation to support the completion of the thesis and the launching of the research career.
2010-11 Fellowships
The fellowship provides an 11-month stipend of $25,000, the same tuition and fee waiver and all other benefits provided by a 50%-time Research Assistantship. No concurrent assistantship appointment is permitted with the Dissertation Completion Fellowship. We expect to award two or three fellowships for the 2010-11 academic year.
Eligibility requirements:
- You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- You must have completed the major portion of your thesis research.
- You must expect to graduate by August 2011.
- The 2010-11 academic year will be no more than your 7th year in the Ph.D. program.
Evaluation criteria
The fellowships will be awarded on a competitive basis. The main criteria to be considered will be (1) the quality of research and scholarship in your dissertation, and (2) the likelihood of completion within the next academic year.
How to apply
If you wish to be considered for a 2010-11 REGS3 Fellowship, please arrange that the Graduate Office receives:
- Curriculum Vitae, including publications
- Candidate research statement (no more than 3 pages, suitable for a general mathematical audience)
- Two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from your thesis advisor
Deadline
All application material (including letters of recommendation) must be received no later than Friday April 23, 2010.
