Dichotomy theorems in descriptive set theory

Since the inception of the subject, dichotomy theorems have played a central role in the development of descriptive set theory. We will discuss a new approach to establishing such theorems using ideas from graph theory, as well as interactions between descriptive set theory and other areas of mathematics.
